Diamond quality is assessed on four characteristics. These are carat (weight), colour, clarity, and cut - the 4 C’s. While most people know to look at one or two of these, overlooking any will drastically reduce your diamond quality.
Unfortunately, the characteristic most often overlooked is the most important: CUT. Every diamond is cut and polished into 57 facets which is designed to capture and reflect light. As light enters a top facet it is bounced out another. A sloppy cut will bounce the light incorrectly and it'll escape unnoticed through the bottom of the stone. The better the cut, the better it sparkles. back >
